Pictorial history below!
Beginning in late 1989 Pastor John Conway began to sense the
Lord dealing with his heart. God was calling him out to begin a church. What kind of church would God
want? There were many churches already in the area. Why another one? How
would it be different? Who would we reach? These were the questions, not all of
them would be answered right away, and some wouldn't be answered for years.
Pastor John knew a couple of things about the church he would start; 1) it would
be a worshiping church, 2) it would be a church that valued freedom in worship,
and 3) it would be a church that was lead by the Holy Spirit.
Things began to fall into place for Pastor John & Cindy and the work began. A
place to meet was located that required extensive renovations. But as God always
does, He provides for our needs. With a little blood, a lot of work, and even a
few tears the first building was opened and service was held November 24, 1991.
One hundred and twenty eight people gathered for worship that first Sunday and
we have been going strong ever since.
On Father's Day 1996 Hilltop moved into its current facility at 1227 Old
Cottondale Road. It was the perfect move at the perfect time. Sunday School
space was added, increased space for worship attendance, and more parking.
The latest addition to the Hilltop facility was opened September 19, 2001. The
Solid building is a state of the art Youth Worship Facility. A full service
Café, pool tables, foos ball, video games, a Bose sound system, video projection
system, and theatrical lighting provide a very appealing environment for young
people of all ages, and a great place for church-wide gatherings as well.
Through the years we have seen steady growth, and we are well positioned for
many more years of high energy ministry to our community. Thank you for visiting
our church. May the river of God's love flow from our family to yours.
